Marcel Breuer 1925 Table Lamps

In 1925, the Paris Expo showcased the cutting-edge designs and innovations of the era, and among them stood Marcel Breuer's revolutionary lamp designs. Breuer, a Hungarian-born architect and designer, captured the essence of modernism with his sleek and functional designs. His lamps, crafted from nickel-plated brass, epitomized the Bauhaus aesthetic—minimalist yet strikingly beautiful.

Breuer's lamps at the Paris Expo embodied the principles of form following function. Their simple geometric shapes and clean lines emphasized practicality and efficiency, while still exuding an unmistakable elegance. These lamps not only illuminated spaces but also became icons of modern design, influencing generations of designers to come. We are unable to state categorically that these lamps were made in 1925 or from the original manufacturing run, they were produced for a number of years. These are probably copies or were made under license around the mid 1950s.

These lamps were purchased in a flea market on the outskirts of Budapest in the late 1980s and have been in the same household since then. The lamps have developed a fantastic patina commensurate with thier age and we would never want to re-chrome or over restore that finish, so they are sold in as found condition. All the old electronics have been replaced with current UK standard fittings.

They have been professionally rewired and PAT tested to current UK standards.
